Danny Elfman to Compose Hunger Games Score
With official ”Hunger Games” news slowing to a trickle now that principal filming has begun, it has at last been announced that composer extraordinaire Danny Elfman will be responsible for creating the music for the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novel.
Elfman has composed the scores for dozens of films, including ”Spider-Man”, ”Beetlejuice”, ”Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, ”Chicago” and more recently, ”Alice in Wonderland”. 2011 is set to be a huge year for Elfman, as he will also be composing scores for ”Oz: The Great and Powerfu”, “Frankenweenie”, ”Men in Black 3” and ”Dark Shadows”.
Fansite My Hunger Games.com has also revealed that T. Bone Burnett has also been linked to the film’s score; apparently he appeared early on in the film’s shooting schedule to record a song he had written – with lead actress Jennifer Lawrence – that has been described only as “haunting”. It is likely that the song in question is the lullaby Katniss sings to Rue as the young District 11 tribute slowly dies in her arms.
